Speaker Harks Announces Death Of Former Speaker Braden Harris

September 4, 2026 - It is with a heavy and solemn heart that we announce the death of Former House Speaker Braden Harris who died at his Janesville home in New Shire. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him, his family and friends. He dedicated his service to this great chamber and we will remember his willingness to work with both sides of the Aisle. President Laylin has lowered all Jesstopian flags to half staff starting today at 6:00 AM until September 10, 2026 at sunset. The House will recess for today, September 4, 2026 to allow our chamber's members to mourn his loss.
